DOWN AND OUT

The vicious circle of insecurity.

“Down and Out” talks about downfalls. Poorly negotiated turns, descents that are sometimes slow and sometimes sudden. A gentle decline. Extreme poverty. That which, whatever people may say, scares us all and isolates us. Which excludes humanity.

DOWN AND OUT

For two years, Loïc Delvaulx walked in the streets of Mimi, Bibi, Alain, Elvis and Michel.

He shared drinks too many, ends of the road, some downers and occasionally a glimmer of hope. He melted into the street, with a discreet and honest eye.

After these two years, he relates three life portraits: a family forced to relocate after being evicted in winter, a miserable pair, and a socially alienated young alcoholic man. Don’t look for shocking photos; they’re not part of the story. Loïc Delvaulx favours the drowsiness of a cold morning, the showers in the ULB locker rooms or the administrative procedures at the CPAS.
